As the only girl in a family of boys, I was brought up to love baseball and, in particular, the New York Yankees. In the late 90s I was living in California, 3000 miles from my beloved team and my father, who shared his love of the Yankees with me. I was traveling on business the night the Yankees won the 1998 WS and was alone in my hotel room- desperate for someone to celebrate with. All of a sudden, my hotel phone rang and it was my Connecticut-resident father calling to celebrate with me once again. He knew I would want company at that moment. He inspired me in every facet of my life, not the least of which was enduring love of baseball and my New York Yankees.
