|Paul Named Honoree at Joe Torre's Safe at Home Foundation Gala
November 10, 2011
Paul was the honoree at the 9th annual gala for Joe Torre's foundation, Safe at Home, on November 10th, 2011. The foundation's main goal is to prevent violence in childrens' homes and schools. Joe was a victim of childhood violence via his father. The dilemma is close to his heart. The most touching parts of the evening were testimonials from six of the eight thousand children who have been counseled and helped by the foundation. The children took the stage and spoke eloquently of their struggles and victories against abuse. The event raised much needed funds in this challenging economy for the continuation of services to some of New York's most vulnerable citizens. Paul and old friends from the Yankees then took the stage for a short trip down memory lane, back to the Yankees' dynasty of the 1990s. The wonderful evening was concluded with Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons taking the stage with the dance floor filling up until the final song. In keeping with Right Field Charities' tradition of serving non-profits that emphasize services to children, Paul expressed his gratitude for the honor and remarked the gala was a homerun for everyone concerned.
